Amberjacks Hold Off Yardbirds 3-2

July 26 2018 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 3-2 at Adelanto Stadium. Monterey scored twice in the fifth inning and added another run in the seventh, finishing with 11 hits. High Desert answered with two runs in the eighth but could not complete the comeback and finished with six hits and three errors.

Ethan Skowronski hit a home run and drove in a run for Monterey, while Thomas Prospero also recorded an RBI. Cutter McDowell, Jeremy Glore, K. Connolly and Ian Jones each had two hits. The Yardbirds received an RBI from Shane Brown, and Jason Johnson-Wilcoxson and Travis Holm collected extra-base hits.

Jones earned the win after allowing four hits and one walk while striking out three over six scoreless innings. Andrew Arnold surrendered two runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts over three innings but secured the save. Jordan Norton took the loss for High Desert despite allowing only one earned run over six innings; he gave up nine hits and struck out four.
