Train Robbers Roll Past Yardbirds 14-2

July 24 2018 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 14-2 after combining 15 hits with scoring in seven innings. Bakersfield scored twice in the first, then added one run in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth. The Train Robbers added two runs in the eighth and four more in the ninth to pull away.

Kyle Bonicki led Bakersfield with three hits, three RBI and a home run. Sonny Cortez went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double, while Steve Pascaul and C. Rocker each drove in two and added doubles. Jesse Baker and Tobias Moreno each scored three runs, and Rob Lain scored twice while also contributing a hit.

Rob Lain earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing four hits and two earned runs in seven innings. He walked one and struck out four. Jordan Grader and Zack Kamerman each worked a scoreless inning to finish the victory.

High Desert scored twice in the first inning but was held scoreless thereafter. Ronnie Grant had two of the Yardbirds six hits, while Aaron Cook and Jason Johnson-Wilcoxson each drove in a run. Adolfo Espinoza took the loss after surrendering 10 hits and eight runs seven earned in 5.1 innings.
