Train Robbers Pull Away From Yardbirds 12-8

June 24 2018 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 12-8 after scoring in four different innings at Adelanto Stadium. Bakersfield collected 11 hits and took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning before adding one run in the fourth, four in the fifth and four more in the eighth. High Desert answered with six runs in the fourth and one each in the fifth and sixth but could not complete the comeback.

Nick Vehlewald powered the Train Robbers offense with two hits, two runs and six RBI, including a home run. B. Butcher also had two hits and a double, while Nick Delgado and Tobias Moreno each collected two hits. Jesse Baker drove in two runs, and Peter Yorgen added an RBI. High Desert produced 14 hits, led by Jason Johnson-Wilcoxsons four-hit performance and Eric Schneiders two hits and two RBI.

Chris Danielson earned the win for Bakersfield with a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits and striking out one. Michael Elwell worked three innings and struck out eight while allowing three runs, and Jonathan Fleckenstein surrendered five earned runs in three innings. High Desert starter Gregg Gausden allowed eight earned runs in five innings, while Avery Brandon took the loss after giving up four runs in one inning.
