Bakersfield Train Robbers Defeat High Desert Yardbirds 8-3

June 23 2018 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 8-3 at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield finished with 14 hits while limiting High Desert to five hits.

High Desert scored twice in the first inning and added another run in the sixth, but Bakersfield answered with one run in each of the first two innings before breaking through for three runs in the fifth. The Train Robbers added three more runs in the eighth to secure the victory.

Nick Delgado led Bakersfield with four hits in five at-bats and scored twice. Blane Swift went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Kyle Bonicki and Jesse Baker each drove in two runs. Brett Balkan reached base three times with two walks and scored twice.

Jesse Remington earned the win with a complete-game performance, allowing five hits and three runs with one earned run, one walk and three strikeouts over nine innings. High Desert starter Kyle Chavez took the loss after allowing 10 hits and five runs in six innings, with two earned runs, four walks and three strikeouts.
