High Desert Yardbirds Defeat California City 12-4

June 16 2018 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the California City Whiptails 12-4 at Adelanto Stadium. High Desert finished with 14 hits and scored six runs in the second inning before adding one in the third, one in the fourth and four in the fifth. California City answered with one run in the fifth, two in the eighth and one in the ninth while totaling 11 hits and committing two errors.

Jason Johnson-Wilcoxson led the Yardbirds with three hits, four RBI and two runs scored, including a home run and two doubles. Kent Blackstone drove in three runs, while B. Harmon, Steven Longo and Jake Marshall each added an RBI. Ronnie Grant and Marshall scored twice apiece, and Kyrawn Whitfield had two hits.

Jordan Norton earned the win after allowing three runs on nine hits in eight innings. He struck out six and walked three. Matthias Leyva finished the game with one inning of relief. California City starter Kyle Porter took the loss after surrendering 12 runs on 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings, with six runs charged as earned; Nick Brass and Albert Neff combined to hold High Desert scoreless over the final 3 1/3 innings. California Citys Johnny Abbaduscky and Nick Snyder each collected three hits, and Eli Roundtree hit a solo home run.
