High Desert Yardbirds Rally Past Bakersfield Train Robbers 11-10

May 30 2018 The High Desert Yardbirds rallied past the Bakersfield Train Robbers 11-10 in a back-and-forth game at Adelanto Stadium. High Desert scored the decisive run in the ninth inning after Bakersfield had tied the game with two runs in the eighth. The Yardbirds finished with eight hits while the Train Robbers collected 10, and High Desert overcame three errors.

Dominic Zaher led High Desert with a home run and four RBI. Steven Longo went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a double, while Aaron Cook had two hits and scored three runs. Bakersfield received two hits and two walks from Bobby Webb, who hit a home run and drove in a run. Shane Sharkey drove in three runs, Dynas Doud added two RBI, and both B. Butcher and Joe Davis contributed two RBI.

Bakersfield scored twice in the fourth inning and added six runs in the sixth to take an 8-7 lead. High Desert answered with three runs in the seventh, and the teams traded two-run innings in the eighth before the Yardbirds pushed across the winning run in the ninth.

Kevin Kelleher earned the win for High Desert after allowing one hit and two walks while striking out two in 1.2 scoreless innings. Kyle Chavez worked 5.2 innings and was charged with six runs, five earned, on four hits. Zach Williams took the loss for Bakersfield despite pitching 1.1 innings without allowing an earned run; Bakersfield used five pitchers and surrendered 11 runs nine earned.
